Assist a Former Customs Officer in Health Crisis
Donation protected
Good afternoon,
I started my career employed by the U.S. Customs Service as a clerk typist. I started at the Long Beach Seaport and worked my way up as a U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officer under the Department of Homeland Security, working at the busiest land border in San Ysidro and Otay Mesa, California. Then, I transferred to the Long Beach Seaport after 4 years. Soon after, I was informed I had diabetes and end stage renal disease and would be requiring dialysis treatments 3 times a week. I have no siblings. My father passed when I was 1 year old. My mother died in my arms when I was 18 years old also due to diabetes complications.. I’ve never asked for assistance as I’ve always been independent. I apologize for asking for assistance, but I need transportation to and from dialysis and assistance to pay for medical bills. I was also notified by my podiatrist my foot will most likely be amputated. Apparently my primary insurance benefits from Kaiser Permanente do not cover all of my medical expenses. They also moved me into congregate living all the way to Northridge California telling me I didn’t have a choice further moving me away from Long Beach and not being able to be visited by loved ones. I have lost everything to this disease such my career as a CBP Officer of over 18 years, home and significant other of 23 years. God bless and thank you for all of your contributions and prayers.
