Assaye Pipe Banner Fundraising

Donation protected
The Royal Highland Fusiliers,  2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland is the only Battalion in the British Army to carry 3 Colours on parade. The third Colour, The Assaye Colour,  is dire need of replacing. Unlike the Queen's and Regimental Colour, the Assaye Colour is not covered by crown funds, therefore raising funds for this must be done privately by donations and will cost in the region of £45K.

To complement the Assaye Colour, a new Assaye Pipe Banner is also to be commissioned. The current banner hasn't been replaced since sometime before 1959 and is also in dire need of replacing. Like the Assaye Colour, the Assaye Banner is not covered by crown funds and funds for its  manufacturer will have to be privately at a cost of around £700.

To raise the £700 needed, myself and Will Crawford will climb Ben Nevis on the 15th September carrying 25kg in weight. On top of the weight, we will each carry our respective instruments, myself Bagpipes and Will a Bugle (he's got it easy!!). When we reach the summit, we shall play the "The Last Post" and "The 74th's Slow March" in memory of the men of the 74th Highland Regiment who fought at the Battle of Assaye.

The climb will be documented by photo and if feasible a livestream of us playing our respective pieces of music at the summit. If this is unachievable then a video will be uploaded.
