Assaulted while hiking-serious injuries

Hi my name is Sandy and I'm an avid hiker. I hike 5 to 6 times a week and am an experienced and prepared hiker. While on a solo hiking trip in New Mexico I was assaulted by an unknown male hiker. While crossing over the river this man shoved me off the river crossing into the river, broke my leg on impact and ended up face first in the river where the man left me stranded. Fortunately four women came and helped me out. Seven different fire and rescue agencies came out for an almost 5-hour rescue to get me down.

I sustained serious injuries including a badly broken leg - no weight bearing whatsoever for at least 8 weeks, fractured tailbone, severe impact trauma to my arms shoulders hands and elbows which makes it impossible for me to even use crutches.

I will be having an MRI soon due to suspicions that there are possibly other fractures or injuries we haven't seen yet.

I'm self-employed and have insurance however I'm already becoming inundated with medical bills. I need a lot of help because I'm almost completely immobile, cannot stand at all on my own, due to the upper body injuries and tailbone injury, I have difficulty getting up and down, and have been using a walker that I can sit on to scoot around. Unfortunately it does not fit into my bathroom which necessitates me needing even more help.

My insurance does not cover home health Care, or medical transportation because I can't drive - I can't even get out of my own house, and it does not cover many mobility assistance devices that I need such as a wheelchair ramp.

The figure that I listed as my goal is the cost for approximately 3 weeks of part-time home health Care, medical transportation to medical appointments and to buy equipment that my insurance does not cover.

Starting a GoFundMe was not an easy decision for me as I'm an independent person, however I need help and I'm in an impossible situation and I've already blown through all of my savings. I'm appealing with my insurance however it's not going well and even if they do approve it, it will be months before I get help. I have also applied for victim's assistance from the state of New Mexico and that's proving to be a difficult process as well, if I get approved at all I won't see any funds for at least 4 months or more and I'm desperate for help now.

I would deeply appreciate any help I can get, any donation no matter how small can help a lot.
