My name is Braden Rubey. I own a small gym in Argyle Texas called Unicus Athletics. My wife and I opened our gym with the goal of impacting our community through fitness and building a strong hardworking mindset in our members. I’ve spent a lifetime focussed on bettering myself through physical improvement. See I wasn’t dealt the best hand when it comes to athletics, I was always small, allergic to everything, extremely asthmatic and just not naturally athletic. I learned at a young age that effort can make up for a lack of talent. The effort and willingness to put in the work has payed off over the years giving me opportunities to experience a life that I dreamed of growing up. Now I’ve reached a point where I want my efforts to do more than impact my life and abilities to compete.
2020-2021 has been rough on us small businesses owners. Most of us put everything we have into our work because we have a passion and a belief that what we do can make a difference in our world. I’ve seen too many small businesses shut down in the last 12 months and with your help I want to help a few suffering businesses turn the corner and find some hope to continue putting in the effort to better our community.
starting this Friday 5/28/21 at high noon, I will assault bike for 24hrs straight to raise money that will hopefully cover rent for 3 local small businesses in Denton county. My initial goal is to raise a total of $12,000. One month isn’t much but cutting out $4,000 for one small businesses allows them to decrease rent by $1,000 from August-November.
In times like these, sometimes it just takes a little breathing room to get back on track and this 1 month rent payment could be just what these businesses need to survive.
