Almamy is an aspiring Registered Nurse who is currently working as a full-time Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), full-time student, and needs our help!
Almamy is one of the most selfless, dedicated, and caring people I know. His drive and determination to help and put others before himself is something many people truly admire about him. Almamy is a light in so many people’s lives, even people he doesn’t know. When he’s around, you feel full of life and as if you can do anything! This is the energy he shares with his patients every single day.
When Almamy was young, he would care for his dad and grandma who both had diabetes. He used his uplifting and high-energy personality to make them laugh and smile as often as possible. He quickly learned how great he was at taking care of others, emotionally and physically. This early life experience helped shape his passions and goals. This motivated him to realize pursuing a career in nursing was the perfect fit for him.
After graduating from UC Davis in June 2017, he worked multiple jobs to make enough money for rent, food, and (most importantly) money for his LVN program. Tragically, Almamy was thrown a huge life curveball when his dad died suddenly in the summer of 2018. Almamy moved home to support his mom and brothers. Through all this heartbreak and pain, Almamy persevered and saved enough money to start the LVN program at the beginning of 2019. Almamy successfully completed the LVN program in November 2019 with the support of his community.
Almamy currently works as an LVN at the Manteca Care and Rehabilitation Center caring for the elderly and people needing rehab after surgeries. He has dedicated endless amounts of hours, including overtime and working double shifts, to support his family and himself, providing the highest level of care for his patients.
Since March, as a result of COVID-19, Almamy has gone from working overtime hours to having his hours cut extensively, due to fewer patients being admitted and many of them being discharged because they no longer need services. As a result, Almamy has been struggling to fund his pursuit to become a Registered Nurse and support himself and his family. Almamy does not receive financial support and relies on working full-time as an LVN to pay for his nursing classes. Due to an inability to afford car repairs as a result of COVID-19, he hasn’t had any reliable transportation to and from work, depending on ride-share services which are costly. All of this has caused him more debt, stress, and turmoil in his life.
He needs our help, so let’s show up for him the same way he shows up for so many people in his life. Let’s be as dedicated and passionate about helping him as he is about helping others. Anything will help. Please share and donate if you can!
Thank you very much!
