Hello, my name is Alan G Maciel-Gutierrez, and I am an aspiring Architect from SW Detroit. Since I could remember, I have always been interested in building. My family would constantly buy me legos, and I would build aircraft, ships, gumball machines, buildings, and much more. That is where my love for architecture grew. I won 1st place in the science fair for two consecutive years, both in STEM. They were both displaced in COBO Hall. Due to my academic achievement and engineering/architecture curriculum at Cass Technical High School, I have been nominated to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum: Engineering at UC Berkeley, my dream school. The program will take place this upcoming summer. The cost to participate in this program is $3,595.00 (NOT including flight), and I obtained a $250 scholarship through their program. Due to Covid-19 and the mass flooding in June 2022, money has become a barrier from me attending this program. Opportunities like these are once-in-a-lifetime, and I hope I will be able to participate with your support. My family and I will deeply appreciate anything.
