As many of you already know, last Sunday Aspen was bucked off a horse while gathering for branding and landed on her back breaking her T12. She was taken to the ICU in Billings and surgery was done Monday morning- where the Neurosurgeon & Trauma team placed 2 rods and 8 screws into her back to repair the break. She suffered what is called a burst fracture which caused trauma/shock to her spinal cord. Thankfully her spinal cord was not damaged beyond repair but the nerve trauma left her with no leg movement & tingling sensation from her hips down. We do not know how long it will take for it to recover. She has made progress since Sunday & can lift her legs slightly, wiggle toes, push with her feet slightly & shows progress & improvement each day. Aspen may not be able to stand but she is mastering transfers into a wheelchair. Next step is going to be rehab at Craig Hospital in Denver, Colorado. She will be there for 31 days for sure. Aspen worked full time at Billings Clinic as a CNA prior to the accident but will be out of work for a long foreseeable future. As we all know, medical bills add up quickly so anything and everything helps. The amount of love and support that has already been displayed is heartwarming and means the world to Aspen and her family. THANK YOU! #Aspenstrong❤️
