My dad and step mom had only 30 minutes to gather their belongings and evacuate their home due to the Aspen Acres fire. With their two dogs and whatever could fit in their truck, they left behind the life they had built in their beloved mountain community. Later that day, their home was destroyed by the fire, leaving them with nothing but the clothes they wore and the few items they managed to take.
The loss has left them feeling shocked and lost. My dad, who resigned from the fire department in October of 2025, and has worked as a lineman for the local Beulah telephone company for many years, has spent his whole life in this valley. Their daily routines, including attending church every Sunday and Wednesday night, have been disrupted, and the sense of community they cherished is now gone. Not only is their home gone, but their daily lives and the place they love have been taken from them.
Now, they are facing urgent needs for essentials like home and body care, cookware, clothing, and food, as well as the challenge of finding a temporary place to stay. Any help for them or this community to rebuild is greatly appreciated. Your support will make a meaningful difference as they begin the difficult journey of recovery and rebuilding.
