Chantilly's Moving & Medical Fund

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Chantilly. I'm a mom of two kids who's lived in Texas for about 10 years and I am desperately ready to leave.

I've been through a lot over the past year and a half especially, being diagnosed with severe anemia in April 2023 that required hospitalization and a blood transfusion. According to my medical records, I had been anemic for years and was never told by doctors. This was extremely disappointing to discover, because I realized that had I been told, I could have done something to prevent it.

Flash forward to this year and I was struggling with anemia and vitamin D deficiency, and having symptoms like shortness of breath, racing heart, muscle weakness and spasms, dizziness, waking up gasping and out of breath, feeling like the room was spinning and a weight was on my chest. I went into the ER for help, not realizing I had yet another severe deficiency, and unfortunately I was wrongly treated and overdosed on antibiotics for over 7 weeks, causing a large amount of damage inside my body. I now have liver damage (lvl 1-2 fibrosis) and pain throughout my spine, both sides of my back, and in my right side.

I have been unable to sit up for long periods of time to work or restock my shop consistently. I have pain and tightness in my ribs all day long and I'm really struggling to keep my head clear and focus on doing what's needed in order to survive financially.

But most of all, I'm scared that living in a state that doesn't prioritize women's health and where I don't have access to either Affordable Care Act (I didn't make enough this year to qualify) or Medicaid (Texas is not a Medicaid Expansion state, so they do not extend Medicaid insurance to adults).

Unfortunately, I'm not able to see specialists and have to rely on ER and a free clinic for testing and treatment and what they can do to diagnose and treat me is very limited and an extremely slow process. It's been over 3 months since my antibiotics overdose injury and I am am still waiting for ultrasound, colonoscopy, and hopefully, additional testing to find out why I have so much pain throughout my body and why I can still barely sit up.

I mentioned before that I have two kids, 10 and 16, both of which are special needs, and I really want to be there for them and to provide for them. But not being able to work and not having access to quality medical care is really causing me a lot of worry and stress.

What I'm asking for are the funds to leave Texas and travel back up north to be closer to family and live in a state that provides Medicaid to all residents. I want to get the testing. I want to see the specialists. And I want to hopefully reverse any damage that's been done.

A few people have asked me to explain what's going on, but it's been very difficult to have the mental clarity to even write this story out. I tried my best to record a few videos to explain (they're on my youtube channel), but basically, I was working hard to reverse my health conditions after learning about my anemia and researching how deficiencies affect metabolic function.

I lost over 80 lbs this year and have almost completely reversed diabetes (I went from a 9.0 A1C to a 6.1), and I really don't want all my hard work and progress on my health to go to waste because of doctors wrongly prescribing me unnecessary antibiotics (Cephalexin, Ciprofloxacin, Nitrofuratoin, Cefdinir, Bactrim, Rocephin) for 7 weeks and refusing to listen to me about all the pain and symptoms I experienced while taking them.

Things have been compounded even more by the fact that Texas has no funding to help with rent or electricity shut offs like they do in other states. The limited programs they do have are out of budget and unable to help while I'm going through this process to get diagnosed and hopefully recover.

A small donation would help me to be able to leave Texas and get to a state (Like Minnesota or Michigan) where I can have access to Medicaid, government assistance for housing, and a team of specialists if needed.
