Support: Help My Brother Heal & Rebuild His Dream
Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and community,
My name is Khetanya Henderson-Schuler, and I’m Sankar’s sister. Many of you may know me as a wellness educator and fitness professional—but today, I come to you simply as a sister who loves her brother and wants to see him whole again.
My brother has always been the kind of person who shows up for others. Whether it was cooking for friends, lending a hand without being asked, or dreaming big about opening his own restaurant, he has spent his life pouring into people with love, generosity, and grit.
In August 2024, just as he was preparing to launch the restaurant he had worked so hard to build, life took an unexpected turn as his health garnered medical attention. Since then, he’s fought with strength and grace, managing his health while trying to stay afloat financially. But now, he faces another major challenge: an upcoming surgery that will require 2–3 months of recovery, meaning he’ll be unable to work during that time.
To make things even more difficult, he is also carrying the weight of growing medical bills. Despite it all, he continues to press on—not just for himself, but for the two people who matter most: his two wonderful children.
As a father, he has always been their rock. And now, in an incredible show of love and maturity, they’ve become his. His kids have stepped up in ways that many adults wouldn’t be able to—offering emotional support, helping at home, and being his constant encouragement through this journey. They’ve reminded all of us what it means to be family.
This GoFundMe is to raise funds that will cover:
Medical and hospital bills not covered by insurance
Mortgage and essential living expenses during recovery
Transportation to and from follow-up appointments
Support for his eventual return to work and his dream of reopening the restaurant he put on hold
If you know my brother, you know how deeply he believes in people, in food as love, and in second chances. I’m asking—on his behalf—for your support so he can focus on healing without the heavy weight of financial stress.
Whether it’s $10, $100, or simply sharing this campaign, every bit makes a difference. Let’s surround him with the same love and care he’s always given to others—and show his kids that their strength and sacrifice did not go unseen.
With heartfelt gratitude,
