Asking for Help with Ashley's Recovery from Freak Accident

Donation protected
My sister, Ashley is a single mom with two kids, two dogs, two cats, and three chickens who works full-time as a respiratory therapist for Advocate Health System, currently "traveling" between different hospitals throughout southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois that are in need of help.

While participating in a Halloween event, a freak accident occurred as an industrial concrete saw had been brought out to use as a prop but had not yet been altered for safety. She made contact with the saw as it was powered on momentarily. This one moment of being in the wrong place at the wrong time caused her to sustain approximately 2 feet long cuts across her body, from her right arm, across her chest and abdomen, and down to her left thigh. Luckily, the quick actions of her friends surrounding her kept her from bleeding out as she waited for EMS, which was crucial considering 2 veins were severed in her arm. After emergency surgery, she now has 37 staples, 12 sutures, multiple stitches, and at least one more surgery in the near future. She spent 5 nights in the hospital and wounds are healing well, but she is unfortunately suffering from severe nerve damage in her right (dominant) hand. This is causing her constant pain and debility. So far, the medical team is estimating recovery will take about 6 months. This has been incredibly difficult news for her as she is eager to get back to working. She has had no income from the moment of the accident and unfortunately does not qualify for any type of short-term disability or any kind of benefits due to being a traveling RT vs. staff RT. Thankfully, Medicaid will be able to kick in for future expenses/surgeries, but that hefty bill from the initial ambulance ride, surgery, and five-night hospitalization will be her full responsibility. As a single mom, she also has all of her monthly expenses/bills to keep her household afloat that she will be struggling to pay while she is off work with zero income.

Ashley was very hesitant to have me set up this GoFundMe, as she is not one to ask for financial help. But I know that the financial support she needs at this time far surpasses what I am able to offer her at this time. I am asking for some help from anyone that is able, to help let her breathe and take the load off her shoulders so she can support her family and continue to focus on healing during this time.

Thank you in advance to anyone and everyone that is able to help!!
