Hi, I’m Nyome, and honestly, writing this has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do.

I’ve been a model for the past seven years, and I’m deeply grateful for the incredible opportunities I’ve had along the way. But since 2020, the industry has changed dramatically. Work has slowed down to a point where it’s become almost impossible to sustain myself, no matter how hard I try.

I’ve been applying for jobs outside of the creative world, anything and everything, but so far, I haven’t had any luck. I’ve also applied for multiple grants, but none have come through. So I’ve created this GoFundMe as a last resort; to help me cover basic living costs like bills, and setting aside what I owe to HMRC as a self-employed person.

Part of the funds would also go toward building my website and supporting a new creative project I’m developing. I’m ready to pivot and grow beyond modeling, to build something new that reflects where I’m headed next in my career.

As someone who’s used to being independent, asking for help feels uncomfortable and humbling. My ego is definitely fighting me on this, but I know I can’t do it alone. I also know that so many people are struggling right now, which makes me even more grateful for any support, big or small that comes my way.

I recently shared a video on my page about how having a platform doesn’t mean everything is perfect behind the scenes. That couldn’t be truer right now. So I’m turning to my community, to the amazing people who have supported me throughout my journey and asking for a bit of help to keep moving forward.
