Asking for help for Steve Sopher after a bad fall

Hi, my name is Judy, and on behalf of our family, I'm asking for help for my nephew, Steve Sopher. On September 22nd, Steve fell over 15 feet from a ladder while working on a home as part of his job as a handyman. He suffered serious injuries, including a compression fracture at L1 spine, several bone fractures, (his right clavicle, right shoulder blade and several right ribs - ultimately causing fluid on his right lung,) and brain trauma from a brain bleed, resulting in some memory loss and confusion. After spending 3 days in the ICU, Steve was transferred to a hospital room where he remained for the next 19 days until last Friday, October 8th, when he was transferred to a skilled nursing facility for rehabilitation. He will remain there for a undetermined amount of time while undergoing physical, occupational and cognitive therapy.

Although he is showing signs of improvement, in his current condition he has no real understanding as to the seriousness of his injuries, and his only thought is to go home to his beloved dog, Chico, and to "get back to work". At this point, there is no way of telling when that might be, and how complete a recovery we can expect, As the doctors have told us, "time will tell" although we are, of course, praying for a full recovery.

Steve is self employed, and as such, if he is not working, he has no income. He has no savings and no "Plan B". We are asking for help to pay his past due, current, and ongoing bills - rent, phone, insurance, auto expenses (gas), food, and basic living expenses over the next several months until he gets on his feet, and we know what to expect for him long term. Since he has been in the hospital for the past month, he is already past due on rent, phone, insurance, etc. He has received bills for his car registration, insurance, some previous medical bills, etc.,

Any assistance you can give will be very much appreciated. This is going to be a long road, but we are hoping for the best, and will keep you posted on his progress.
