Asking for help before surgery for Regina (Hack) Gray...
Donation protected
In June of 2024, at 52 years old, Regina had a heart attack. Physician's told her she experienced a "SCAD", spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection. (SCAD is an emergency condition that occurs when a tear forms in the wall of a heart artery. SCAD can slow or block flow to the heart, causing a heart attack, heart rhythm problems or even sudden death.)
Due to her recent new employment, Regina was forced to head back to work sooner than recommended due to mounting bills and no time off. When she went for her follow up angiogram in September, they noticed a large mass in her brain and sent her to the hospital for evaluation.
Ultimately, Regina was diagnosed with a large right intraventricular meningioma, approximately 5cm x 4cm with mass effect , brain herniation and vasogenic edema. (Essentially, there is a midline shift of the brain due to the mass, this has caused swelling and symptoms of headaches) The neurosurgeon has stated the only option is surgery, and that she can not ignore this due to the size and swelling. She is blessed that this was found when it was, as it would be easy to assume her headaches and fatigue are due to her long work hours on night shift and lack of sleep. If left untreated, there could be significant long term negative effects.
Friends are here on gofundme to ask for financial help for Regina. She will not qualify for FMLA until April, which means she will need to take a personal leave of absence and pay an additional almost $400 a month for insurance installments. Since she is already working OT to cover her expenses (including over $10,000 in hospital charges for the SCAD), taking 4-8 weeks off for recovery, will make it very difficult to stay afloat. We pray for no complications, as that will only add to the financial challenge.
OF course these things never happen at a "good time" as her older home is also in need of a new heating system and multiple repairs.
Since her husband's death in 2001, Regina has always worked overtime and did whatever she needed to do to support her 4 children and help them and others in times of financial difficulty. The past year has brought many financial and health challenges for Regina, and we are compelled to ask for help on her behalf.
I know the economy has put many of us in a tight spot right now, but if you are able to spare a few dollars to help Regina, it would be greatly appreciated. If you are not able, we kindly ask for your prayers for Regina as she prepares for her scheduled surgery in January. Thank you in advance for your kindness and prayers!
