House Fire Relief for the Askin Family
Donation protected
Hello,
We are asking for your help on behalf of the Askin Family as they are going through a time of terrible loss.
Late in the evening on December 15th, for reasons yet unknown the Askins found themselves in the middle of a substantial fire in their home in Mt. Vernon, Virginia. Luckily, they found it in time and were all able get out safely with their dog Hope --- and without any injuries, we thank God for that! However with their 3 cats still inside and watching their house burn, they were horrified.
Thankfully, the Fire Department arrived within minutes and was responding quickly to the fire. They were notified of the missing cats and recovered the first cat, Greyson and then much later the Askins recovered Cleo after the fire was cleared (they are doing okay). However in between that time, they were told by firefighters that a cat was found in the upstairs bedroom and pronounced dead on arrival. That was our dear sweet Simba who was the most attached and closest to our mom. All of our animals are family to us and losing Simba was devastating to say the least.
Everything has happened so suddenly and we ask for your prayers to be with the Askin Family as they try to recoup and get their bearings.
Currently the house is not in livable condition. Appraisers have already been on site to assess the damage and in time we hope that they will be able to rebuild quickly. Our goal is to raise $5,000 by Christmas! Yes, we are asking for a Christmas miracle to encourage them, help them transition smoothly, and allow them the time/space to heal.
So family, friends, and to anyone this may connect with --- instead of gifts to any of us this holiday, it would mean so much more if you would consider donating to the Askin family. Thank you so much for your consideration!
Sincerely,
Valerie, Peter, Amanda, Posido, Paula, & April
RIP Simba <3
