"Ask and you shall receive"

Don protégé
After years of quietly battling and overcoming a number of medical issues, my dad was diagnosed with cancer in July 2013.  If you see him on the street, you would have no idea the hurdles he has braved.  His strength makes us strong.  His courage makes us courageous.  His prosperity in hope and faith teaches us to keep on believing.  He has lead by example in his walk with God and it is now our turn to help him.

While we cannot take away any of the pain, we can take away the burden of worrying about how to pay for this medication should he choose to take it.  Being self-employed, it has been difficult for him to sustain a steady income throughout the last few months.  He had a procedure in October, one in December, spent almost a week in the ICU last month and then, the news of the cancer spreading to his lungs.  That didn't stop him from going into work for a few hours last night though.  The tumors are inoperable but the chemo pill is an option.  It is difficult weighting between the possible side effects of treatment and living a quality of life- however, I know in the back of his mind, the cost of the pill is one of the factors that are playing a role in the decision.  I cannot let something like money play such a role and interfere with his will to live.

My whole life my dad has always stayed true to the saying "Ask and you shall receive."  He has never asked for much- for we are already rich in abundance with the important things in life: faith, hope, love, kindness, compassion and most importantly, belief in God.  He is and has always been the first to give when someone has asked.

Today, not coincidentally, is the feast day of Saint Joseph, his namesake.  Joseph was a compassionate, caring man with a love of Jesus and a respect for God; a righteous man.  "Anything that Saint Joseph asks of Jesus through Our Lady in eternity, he receives, and asking for his powerful intercession has been a source of many miracles and strengthened the faith of countless millions to Our Savior."

We ask foremost for your prayers, for we believe wholeheartedly in the power of prayer and miracles.

God Bless.

(P.S. He is not going to be happy with me for doing this for reasons I completely understand, but as his son, I cannot sit back and just watch any longer)
