Okay folks! I was once told that if you need help, then ask for it. I wasn’t going to do this because I feel very uncomfortable about it but, here it goes....
For or most of you that don’t know, I have made a move to Kauai, Hawaii. This, though is no vacation. I have moved here as a step toward me making big changes in my life. I am currently enrolled in a Somatic Massage Therapy program. This program specifically drew me because of its very unique approach. Not only am I working towards a new career that will help support my passion and goals in the ceramic arts, but it is also guiding me along a path of being a healthier person as a whole. Because of my struggle with alcohol and depression, my lifestyle as a bartender was leading me down a dark path that I was becoming far to comfortable with. I knew That something big had to change, that’s why I chose this program.
This particular school has a theory behind it of “healing yourself before you heal others”. We are learning to be aware of the connection of body and mind, looking within, being present, and self healing. We’re also trauma informed. All of this being so important for having a genuine loving presence for clients (and people in general) in order to “heal” on a deeper level. Along with all of the essential education and practice to become a liscenced massage therapist. TADA!!! New career!
Without going into too much detail, this has been really hard, one of the hardest things I have ever done! The second day I got here I got a job, a car, and a place to live which was a sweet tent set up with an air mattress, my blankets, lights, mini kitchen, etc.... A couple weeks in, my “home” got stolen! Most of my belongings, clothes, bed, etc. got taken with it! (Not my board thank goodness!) people have been so kind donating clothes and such, and a new friend is letting me sleep on his couch till I can figure out another option.
The problem that im having though is that because I’m going to school full time it allows for very little money making time. The bartending job that I got I decided to quit because it wasn’t aligning with my goal of bettering myself as the atmosphere and people were toxic. I am now working cleaning jobs to make ends meet but it’s not enough to allow for savings for my second half of tuition which is due on March 30th in the amount of $4,295.
This is school is something that I really believe in and know that I must finish it in order for the change that I have so needed for years to happen. I saved up a big chunk to pay for the 1st half and to get started out here, but life happens as you all know and I’m finding myself coming up short.
So, I need help. (Sigh) I’m hoping that this doesn’t upset of offend anyone, but like I said I wouldn’t ask unless I really needed it. Also, I’ll be a massage therapists after this so...wink wink. ☺️
Im so excited for my future with the help of this school. I feel like it’s very bright and full of aliveness, love, art, and beauty that I can’t wait to share with you all! Thank you, thank you, thank you in advance!
