“From Struggle to Stethoscope – Help Asia Graduate”

Hello, my name is Asia Thompson, and as I write this, I can’t help but shed tears. I’m a 32-year-old mother of two beautiful children, Taylan (9, almost 10) and Tayden (4, almost 5) — both October babies, full of life and love. They are my entire world and the reason I’ve held on through every storm.

Right now, I’m holding on with everything I have.

I work at Ochsner Health and I’m also a second-year nursing student at Chamberlain University. Becoming a nurse has always been my dream — not just for me, but for my children. I want them to see their mom fight for something better, to know that no matter how hard life gets, we can rise.

But I’ve hit a wall.

I’ve exhausted all my financial aid, tried every scholarship I could find, and applied for loans — but now I’m no longer being approved. I’ve never been one to ask for help like this, but the truth is… I don’t know what else to do. The thought of giving up this close — with just a year and a half left — breaks me. I’ve come so far. I've stayed up nights studying after putting my kids to bed, worked long shifts, pushed through exhaustion and self-doubt — and now I’m facing the reality that I may have to walk away, not because of grades, not because of effort — but because of money.

This is not easy to share. As I type this, I feel a mix of fear, hope, and desperation. But I believe in the power of community, of kindness, and of faith.
