Ashton Koller and Family Recovery Support

Most of you have heard by now that Ashton Koller tested positive for COVID 19 last week. We were unaware of how severe his case was, as he was pretty much on bed rest, eating/drinking very little and extremely weak. With what little knowledge we know about COVID it was hard for Ashton and Fairyn, his fiancé, to determine what were “normal symptoms” and what were urgent. Ashton woke up at 4:30am Wednesday morning saying he couldn’t breathe, Fairyn noticed discoloration in his lips and knew that was not a good sign, especially after he said he couldn’t catch his breath.
She got him dressed and woke up their children, Emery (3) and Easton (9 months),and rushed to the nearest emergency department, Advent Health in Palm Coast. Fairyn was unable to go back with him due to having the babies with them and the strict COVID policies. So she told him she loved him and they wheeled him back. She was told to call in 30 minutes to check on him and get an update.
When Fairyn called, the nurse told her his oxygen was so low they could not get a read on it so they were getting ready to sedate him and intubate him to try and get oxygen to his lungs. She was told she needed to come to the hospital, but could not bring the children in.
By the time she dropped Emery and Easton off at her moms house and got to the hospital his condition had worsened. The ventilator was not helping and there was a helicopter waiting to life flight him to Advent Health in Ormond Beach where they would be better equipped in handling his treatment.
The doctors ultimately decide that ECMO would be the best course of treatment. ECMO is a pump that sends his blood through an oxygenator, which serves as an artificial lung, infusing the blood with oxygen and removing carbon dioxide then returning it back to Ashton.
He is still heavily sedated, on a ventilator with ECMO running 24/7 and has now also contracted a bacterial infection. He is still not allowed any visitors, even behind closed doors. As of now his blood pressure and oxygen has improved some, but doctors say there will be a very long road ahead before the recovery process begins.
Anyone that knows Ashton knows that he is a fighter, he is strong and he has SO much to live for. We ask you to continue sending lots of prayers and love to their family.
Ashton was the main provider for his family and unfortunately monthly financial bills do not stop in times of crisis, as well as the ECMO treatment which is highly expensive and averages $5000-$10,000 a day on top of all other medical bills and helicopter costs.
We are asking for any donations that could help this family in THE MOST difficult time of their lives. Any and all would greatly be appreciated.
