Ashton Dell Flair Memorial Scholarship
There are people in our lives who effect change, but so often we do not recognize or know it until they are gone. We remember their words to us, their encouragement of us, their prayer for us and their steadfast love that is left to us. Hence, our wish is enable them to live on, immortally, through our stories and laughter and intimate moments gifted to us over the years.
When we experience the loss of a YOUNG person, we realize the fragility of life and recognize the hope we have for all children to MAKE A DIFFERENCE in our world, as they ARE our future. Ashton Dell Flair did just that as a young person. As a leader in the AFJROTC at Hahnville High School, Ashton made it a point to ensure ALL cadets were accepted, trained, nurtured, encouraged and challenged. It was his mission to evoke the same sense of duty and commitment to the organization and to our country that he had, in all cadets. Ashton was also a trombonist in Hahnville’s Fighting Tiger Band and led his section with such spirit, passion and pride not only for the school but for EVERY student to participate in the unyielding support of one another, no matter what their involvement in student life.
Our mission, now, is to continue Ashton’s encouragement and support of young people as we establish this scholarship opportunity to be awarded to a Hahnville High School AFJROTC student, Destrehan High School AFJROTC student and a Hahnville High School Band student. These scholarships will help us to continue Ashton’s work in ‘growing the next generation’ as well as enable us to do our best to immortalize his memory as our beloved son.
