Ash’s Emergency Car Funeral

Hi there, I’m Ash!

I’m a social media manager for a college, I’m about to start grad school, and I have the WORST luck with cars. My beloved 2007 Jeep Liberty (a.k.a Ruby8) is finally beyond repair. After a year of saving up funds to get her fixed, tonight was the final straw - her tire just completely fell off while I was driving, stripping the lugnuts and blots.

I can’t afford to fix her at this point, and she’s going to have to get scrapped, but unfortunately she’s not paid off yet. I had no idea what to do about this, so as I await the tow truck in the gas station parking lot I broke down in, my partner suggested I try crowdfunding.

Since emergency funds have had to go to things like groceries or surprise plumbing issues our landlord won’t cover and lately, I’m hoping to fundraise the rest I need to pay off the car - approximately $3,500 still owed on the loan.

The good news is during the warm months, I can still get to work with my electric scooter! In the meantime I’ll have some chilly walks to the office while saving up for a new car one day.

My partner and I both work multiple jobs to keep up with the bills, and we just don’t have the funds to get this paid off, let alone attempt repairs.

I appreciate even the smallest bit of help towards paying off Ruby8 and giving her the funeral she deserves.
