The Sonoma Ash Project

Since November, people who have lost everything in the October wildfires have been dropping off containers of ash from their homes in plastic bags, mason jars and Tupperware containers on my front porch.

The Sonoma Ash Project is seeking funds for the creation of over 150 individually handmade ceramic objects as an offering of physical remembrance to those who have lost their homes in the tragic wildfires our community experienced last October. Sonoma Ash Project has been received with great enthusiasm from families who lost homes, community members, church groups, and so many others affected by the fires.

Over the past several months the project has grown in size, scope, and complexity, increasing the costs beyond what was originally expected.  In order to see the Project through to fruition, additional funding is needed to cover the costs of materials, equipment, and utilities. In addition, a catered preview dinner event was held in Spring, 2018, for participants and community members to meet, reconnect, and share experiences. The final gifting ceremony will be held in January 2019 at the end of the exhibition at the Museums of Sonoma County.

The Sonoma Ash Project and the community working towards these goals appreciate your generous support in any amount.
