Hi - This is Kirsten, Ashlyn’s mom and while I don’t like asking help for myself, I will do whatever I can to help my daughter since this is beyond what I can do for her on my own.
Back in May, my daughter ended up at urgent care 3 times in one week which led to her being admitted to the hospital for 9 days to determine what was causing her so much lower back pain.
Ultimately, she was diagnosed with a paraganglioma…a rare tumor of the adrenal gland (2 in a million). Since it’s so rare, she thought it best to seek out expert medical care through MD Anderson’s Endocrine Center. She has a team of 4 doctors that will be performing her surgery which is very risky because it is sitting against her abdominal aorta and is about the size of a baseball.
She currently lives in Austin but is trying to relocate back to Houston hopefully before her surgery on October 13th in order to be close to her doctors, family and friends.
She has already accumulated over $2000 in medical expenses with more to come…a lot to handle for any 25 year old. She is very independent and doesn’t ask for help either (wonder where she gets that from) but she will be out of work for a few weeks while she’s
recuperating.
Any amount you can spare would be so helpful and appreciated. If you are unable to, please consider helping by sharing this with others and most importantly, praying to whatever spiritual entity gives you comfort.
Thank you for listening! I will post updates when anything changes.
