Ashlinn’s Brain Surgery & Recovery

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Linda, I am fundraising for my Granddaughter, Ashlinn.
In June of 2018 she woke up suddenly paralyzed on her right side of her body. She spent all day at the Salmon Arm hospital before a doctor ordered a CT scan where they saw she had a ‘brain bleed’. At that time she was medivac’d to BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver, where she was treated for the brain bleed, had MRI’s and an Angiogram. They discovered that she has a tumour in her left thalamus, which sits on her brain stem. Due to the location of the brain tumour, her Neuro team deemed it inoperable, as the surgery itself would likely leave her completely paralyzed. The plan of action was to monitor it through MRI’s every 6-12 months. Up until recently the tumour was not growing. Her most recent 2 scans have shown growth, and fluid build up, called Hydrocephalus, which will impair her even more so. The Neuro surgeon says that, left untreated, soon Ashlinn will be in excruciating head pain and will lose even more movement/ability on the right side of her body.
Her Neurosurgeon has now confirmed that surgery is a must. My daughter Cheryl will be taking Ashlinn to Vancouver on February 4th for pre-op appointments and surgery on the 10th. It is all happening very quickly, which I great but also scary.
They will be entering her skull from the front, and a scope will go in and around to the back of her brain, where they will do a biopsy and also drain the fluid to reduce pressure. Then a titanium plate will be implanted to secure the skull opening. Post surgery, she will need to stay in Vancouver for a (hopefully) short time, before returning home.
I am asking for help, to assist them to get through this stressful and expensive time. If you prefer to donate via etransfer, please send to:

Any and all donations and or prayers are greatly appreciated. Updates will be posted as things progress.
Thank You and bless you all.
Sincerely,
(Nana) Linda
