Ashlie's Underwater Memorial Plaque

Dearest family, friends and community,

As many of you may already know, Ashlie was on a beautiful journey of pursuing her passion for scuba diving and had recently completed her PADI Dive Masters in Koh Tao, Thailand.

Ashlie first discovered her love for scuba diving while traveling the East coast of Australia during the summer of 2022. Her time spent underwater exploring the Great Barrier Reef was so meaningful that she immediately knew she had discovered one of her greatest passions.

Upon her return to Victoria, Ashlie continued exploring the underwater world of Vancouver Island. She was very fond of diving the nearby reefs with her friends at Wilson Diving and created meaningful memories while gaining experience and furthering her skills within the sport.

With the aim of celebrating Ashlie's love for the ocean, myself and a few other close friends would like to install an underwater memorial plaque at one of her favourite reefs in the Victoria area. Having somewhere to visit Ashlie in a place which brought her so much joy and peace would be incredibly meaningful to us, and we hope to others as well.

An underwater memorial ceremony will be held sometime after Ashlie’s Celebration of Life in late June or early July (TBD for exact dates) to visit the plaque and share our most meaningful stories of time spent alongside Ashlie. The aim of this gathering will be to experience the underwater world our dear friend loved so much and unite with one another to share the love we have all felt so deeply for her.

Anyone is welcome to attend and we hope to provide everyone with the snorkelling gear they may require. The ceremony will likely be held on the beach where we may all gather to gear up and swim out to the plaque together - ideally at low tide to provide easier access for viewing the plaque in shallower waters.

In order to gather the funds necessary to achieve this goal, I am creating a gofundme for anyone who would like to make a donation. I estimate that the cost for making and installing the plaque will be approximately $6000. All donations will be put towards this, as well as any gear necessary for the memorial dive.
