Ashli needs our support!!

Hey ya’ll!!! I’m helping to raise funds for our dear sister, Ashli, as she navigates a major surgery, and at least 6 weeks of recovery time. Ashli is one of my dearest friends, and it’s so important we come together and create a container of support and healing, so that she can rest as she recovers. Funds raised will be used to help cover Ashli’s cost of living expenses, including rent, utilities, healing support, and nourishing meals

In 2021, Ashli was diagnosed with a fibroid cyst on her uterus. They said it wasn’t a big deal. She was having heavy cycles, passing large blood clots, and having intense cramps - but Ashli is so strong so she powered through it. She experimented with natural remedies, herbs and supplements and tried to keep it mostly under control. But her life flipped upside down that same year when she had to leave her partnership of 6 years… Things got worse. In 2022, she lost so much blood on 3 separate occasions, we thought she was going to die. But she was scared to get a blood transfusion… and was in the midst of moving to a new county. At the same time, her son Kai moved across the country, her ex died suddenly, then she had to move again, totaled her car, and there was a fire at her work, so she lost her job, all while being extremely anemic and depleted. The next year was spent dealing with lawyers and probate, taking care of all the logistics that people need to take care of when someone dies. She is STILL dealing with those things today.
About four months ago, Ashli noticed her uterus bulging out of her abdomen. She scheduled a pap and check up in December and they recommended an ultrasound. Ultrasound showed that the fibroid had tripled in size, it’s the size of a grapefruit, or a small watermelon. Her endometrial lining is very thick, and they’ve been telling her they were pretty sure she had cancer since around Christmas…
She had a endometrial biopsy done and an MRI, and thankfully those both look normal, and not cancerous. Because she wasn’t sure what was going on, she had stopped taking her supplements and her last two cycles were super heavy. She lost a LOT of blood. They referred her to UCSF and she went in this past Monday for a surgery consult.
Ashli will have to have a hysterectomy (there’s no other options at this point). The doctor said she looked pale and they gave her a blood test. Her hemoglobin was at 6.4 which is dangerously low… she had lost that much blood. She was having a hard time breathing, she was pale and weak, but still trucking along, like she does. The nurse said she had no idea how Ashli was still functioning… she could have died. Her organs were being over worked. They told her she needed an emergency blood transfusion, and as scary as that was for her, she had two in two days.
They’ve scheduled Ashli’s surgery for her hysterectomy. It’s next Friday, February 23rd, on the full moon. Ashli will receive one more blood transfusion the day before. She’s being seen at the cancer center at UCSF, and we know she’ll be receiving the best possible care… they still want to biopsy her “fibroid” since that hasn’t been biopsied yet. We are holding space and manifesting that it is indeed a fibroid, and not cancerous, but even if it is, they are taking it out, and I know our Ashli is going to be okay.
Ashli will need to take at least 6 weeks off of work to recover. This whole experience has extremely humbling for her, and it’s also A LOT to do it alone. We are so grateful for friends and community who hold such a sweet container of support for her, especially her incredible roommate, Kat, who will be helping care for Ashli as she recovers
The Universe is insisting Ashli must rest, which is no easy task. With the support of friends and loved ones, she will be able to take at least 6 weeks off of work for her recovery.

That’s where we all come in!! We are humbly asking for any support you might be able to provide, whether it’s a monetary contribution, signing up for a meal train to deliver nourishing meals to Ashli over the course of several weeks, or just holding space for healing for our dear sister. 6 weeks without income is so scary, but I know if we all come together, we can co-create a space where Ashli can rest and recover without worrying about how she will pay her bills

Ashli says “I’m looking forward to having a normal life again. To not be afraid I’m going to hemorrhage out every time I get my period. To not get tired and out of breathe so easily, because I’ve been anemic for SO long. I want to go for long hikes and adventures! I want to be vibrant and healthy. To be back out there wild crafting and gardening and making medicine for ya’ll. To have a wonderful Summer with my son. And so much more. Despite all of the obstacles, I do believe there is a purpose to it all, and I am so grateful to be alive. ”
