On December 28th, 2020 Ashley went to the emergency room due to very severe migraines and nausea. She was treated for just that, migraines, and was sent home with medication to manage the pain. However, in the weeks to come, the symptoms only continued to get worse.
Ashley's migraines became more severe with sensitivity to light, dizziness and ear aches. Getting through the day was difficult and relying on medication was no longer sufficient. Ashley decided to go to the emergency room again on January 26th, 2021. This time with the help of her fiancé, Lenny, she requested a head CT scan in hopes of more definitive answers. Her CT scan showed that Ashley had a 6 centimeter tumor in her skull pushing against her brain. She was diagnosed with a Class 1 Meningioma.
The hospital admitted Ashley immediately and three days later, on January 29th, she went into surgery to remove the tumor. The surgeons successfully removed 97-98% of the tumor, deciding to leave behind a part of it that was too dangerous to remove. Doing so would've ruptured a blood vessel and caused Ashley to have a stroke.

Ashley spent the next four days in the ICU. Her recovery after surgery was unpredictable. There were concerns that Ashley could potentially wake up with paralysis or speech impairments. There was also a chance that she wouldn't wake up at all. But Ashley is a fighter, and we are so blessed that not only is she still with us but she woke up without any complications.
On February 2nd Ashley finally came home. And although she is happy to be healing at home with her loved ones, she must now face the financial burden she is now left with. She can't go back to work for AT LEAST two months, and since Lenny has to take care of her, he hasn't been able to return to work yet either. All of her medical bills have yet to be accounted for but they are already beginning to pile up. And these medical expenses are only expected to accumulate with every follow up visit she has. She must have regular MRIs in order to monitor what's left of the tumor, making sure it doesn't grow because if it does, she may have to do radiation therapy or have surgery again.

It saddens me that in a time when Ashley should be focused on her road to recovery, she can't help but worry about other things like their mortgage and the possibility of losing their home. And typically, Ashley isn't the type to easily ask for help so I know that she really DOES need this. Anyone who knows Ashley would agree that she is a caretaker. She is the "hostess with the mostest" and naturally takes on the role of "mom" in her group of friends, and rightfully so as she is one of the most giving people I know. She has always helped me and taken me in during my times of need, and I know she would do the same for anyone else who needed it. That is why, more than ever, she deserves all the help and support she can get.
