Why I'm fundraising

I have been dealing with cancerous colon cells for 2 years. (My father died at 37 of colon cancer, I'm currently the same age battling similar issues) After getting a series of colectomies to remove the cancerous cells, I was left with a colon-rectal fistula and tear. The tear worsened in July of 2023, which caused fecal matter to escape vaginally and left me needing emergency surgery for an ostomy bag. From there the fistula began to collect and grow over the next few months. I saw a colon rectal doctor who during this time I explained and complained about its growth and pain, while he was attempting to locate the location of the tear.. he did nothing! For months the pain grew and I thought nothing could be done and I could manage it. Unfortunately, I began to become sick more so than normal. I was in pain and my fistula in October and November of 2023 quadrupled in size and spread to other organs. I went to the hospital 11/11/23 and was admitted! I was told that I had gangrene, sepsis, was going into shock and almost died!! I am currently still in the hospital where I spent over 2 weeks in ICU fighting for my life and underwent 10 seperate procedures to remove the infected areas, including the complete removal of my lower left butt cheek! I am still fighting to heal which includes learning to walk again!! I have a long recovery which still includes a surgery to repair the fistula, colon tear, and ostomy reversal. This will take place over the next year, and only after my wounds are healed from this last round of surgeries.

The impact of your support

I am in need of funds to cover my out of pocket expenses that insurance does not cover. I am in need of wound vacuums, walkers, wound help aids for home, physical and occupational therapy, co-pays for my 6 different doctors, surgical fees, and other supplies needed for my recovery.
