Ashley needs a New-Used Van
Donation protected

Hi everyone my name is Ashley Mayberry and I had a stroke when I was 27yrs old. The one of the causes of my stroke was my high blood glucose level was 1800, and set a record for Southeest Hospital and survive.
I'm trying to raise enough money for a van that has a lift in it. I'm in a wheelchair and I have one now, but its getting old and worn out and was greatful for it when my Mother put on a fundraiser for me at the VFW where she worked at the time, on my behalf when I was in the nursing home. It's been 7yrs since my stroke first occurred and its been a hard road of recovery already and know I've still got a long way to go...
I had a stroke 7yrs ago now, my blood glucose level 1800 and survived (set a record at Southeast Hospital) or thats what I was told anyway, but I don't know that to be a fact.

I can't do menial things most people take for granted! I'm pretty much dependent on others, in a wheelchair, one-handed (not the dominant one was used to before stroke) and its been a struggle to fight my way back to where I am today. And sometimes I get a little lax or lazy at times.
Don't get me wrong I have a very caring, understanding family, doctor team & homehealth worker, but.. not everyone is the same with their understanding and compassion or care, they have with me..
I used to be a fully functional person with a few quirks as I like to call them, (I could deal with all of my 'quirks' myself) just so happened to have diabetes..

Not sure what to mention, comment on, or leave out to show how much this would mean to my life right now. I'm so dependent on other peoples help if I didn't have a powerchair I wouldn't be mobile as I am, or move at all for that matter.
To say the least I can't take care of myself and everyone else HAS to... For example give myself a shower or even wipe my bottom after using the restroom.
I'm not sure if that's I was supposed to do or what else to tell about myself..

Thanks so much for giving me a little bit of your time!
