Ashley’s Fight Against Liver Disease

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Amanda. My sister Ashley was admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with End Stage Liver Disease (cirrhosis) and kidney failure on March 23, 2023. She spent 10 days on a ventilator fighting for her life. Ashley remains in the hospital where she is receiving dialysis and working hard with physical therapy to be able to come home.

I wanted to start this GoFundMe to help ease some of the financial hardships that are starting to arise for my family.
My mom has been taking care of Ashley’s daughter and when she is ready to leave the hospital she will go home to my mom’s. This will require medical equipment and meds, multiple trips to dialysis and other doctors weekly and possibly home health care. Medicaid is helping with some of the medical costs but as we all know insurance does not cover all expenses.
My dad has been by Ashley’s bedside everyday since going in the hospital. He put his life on hold in Pennsylvania and drove to Georgia to be with her. His leave at work is coming to an end. As you can imagine this has put a huge financial burden on him.
Our current goal is getting Ashley stable enough to come home from the hospital and evaluated to be put on the transplant list.

My sister has the biggest heart. She loves hard and will go out of her way to help anyone in need. She has been the best mom to her two kids Drayden and Greenleigh. No matter the hardships they have faced, she always found a way to make sure they were taken care of.
Any donations are greatly appreciated. They will go towards medical bills, medication, transportation to appointments, and daily necessities that may arise. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the prayers and support we have received so far in this fight. It’s not easy asking for help.
Above all please keep Ashley in your prayers. She is putting in the work and fighting so hard to overcome this.

Update on Ashley:
She will be released from the hospital tomorrow. Now comes the hard work on getting her prepped and evaluated to be put on the transplant list.

Current Needs:
Do I know anyone that works for home health? Although we are extremely grateful for the progress Ashley has made, we are also very worried about her coming home. Being home comes with another long list of hurdles. She will need a lot of help that my mother isn’t able to provide. Her caseworker has told us that Medicaid will not cover Home Health for her. I’m currently trying to call around to find some kind of program or someone that can help.
New Update 6/02/23:
Update on Ashley:
She was moved back to ICU. Her oxygen levels are back up so they were able to remove mask oxygen and she just has the tube as it’s needed. She is still very sick and is having a bit of Hepatic encephalopathy. The doctors have said she is still too sick to be placed on the transplant list but that is the goal we are working towards. He will be speaking with the transplant coordinator about her. She will need a liver and kidney transplants. Thank you all for your continued prayers and support. I’ll update again on Tuesday when I go up to see her.

Please continue to pray and share her Gofund me.
