Ashley's Chiro Service Trip to Costa Rica

As some of you may already know, I recently started the THIRD year of my chiropractic doctorate program in the San Francisco Bay Area, passed my first round of Chiropractic Board exams, and am transitioning into the Health Center Clinic on campus! It's. Happening! :)
These last 2 years have challenged me more mentally, emotionally, and physically than anything I have ever done before, yet, at the end of every day I know I’ve become a better version of myself than I ever thought possible. I cannot wait to continue spreading what chiropractic has brought into my life.
This December I will embark on my second chiropractic mission trip to serve the beautiful people of Costa Rica! On December 15th, I, along with a handful of other students and doctors from across the country, will be working under two esteemed women-- Dr. Tamara MacIntyre & Dr. Monique Andrews (otherwise known as Drs. Mac & Mo, respectively) of British Columbia, Canada for an entire week. I have come to know these two from attending their talks at school, being enrolled in Dr. Mo's intense Neuromuscular Pathophysiology class, and especially most recently with the creation of the Making HERstory event in Oakland, CA. These women are passionate about their students. They are passionate about educating strong and knowledgable doctors to join them in the field so we can create a brighter future for humanity. Drs. MacIntyre & Andrews continue to provide opportunities for ambitious and hungry-to-learn students to enhance their analysis and adjusting skills through immersive experiences such as this as well as outside seminars.

What is Chiropractic?
I strongly believe that chiropractic is about more than simply getting people out of pain. Though it’s an amazing and valuable result, what all humans really desire is the ability to do the things that pain keeps them from doing. I, as a future chiropractor, want to help people live life to their fullest potential. Chiropractic, in its entirety, is the science, art & philosophy of detecting and removing vertebral subluxations. These vertebral subluxations interrupt the flow of mind-body communication and do not allow individuals to live their best life. This communication system between the brain and the body control every function that makes us human --heart rate, digestion and even breathing. The brain also allows us to interact with the world...how we feel, who we love and what motivates us. If there is interference in the transmission of these messages someone will not be able to function at their highest potential, which can impact their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well being. That being said, chiropractors do not heal or "treat". The human body is intelligent enough to heal itself, and Chiropractic helps restore the brain-body connection to facilitate healing and improve nervous system communication. AMAZING, right?!
That being said, I need YOUR help to make this trip a reality. Budgets tend to be insanely tight in a doctorate program, with loans and all that jazz, so my goal is to reach $2000 to cover ONLY tuition for the trip as well as some of my flight. I believe that if I want this trip bad enough, I have to be able to work for it. So I intend to do just that! However, asking for a little help never hurt anybody. :)
