Friends and Friends of Friends,
Early June 2014, while Ashley was working on several different music and writing projects, they began to experience sleeplessness and euphoria. After some days it became clear to friends that Ashley was experiencing mania. The imbalance escalated to a point where Ashley was unable to receive adequate support from caring friends and family members. They then underwent several months of psychotic upheaval and repeated homelessness in Oakland, California, and Olympia & Seattle, Washington.
It has been a half-year of oscillating between different degrees of chaos and recovery. Most recently: after a couple distressing weeks of not hearing from Ashley, they finally called us from a psych unit near Burien. We were grateful to hear they are safe and alive. They have been discharged and are now reaching out for places to stay while they get their bearings. Ashley is also looking for stable housing, and eventually employment when they are ready.
This fund was created by loved ones in order to cover at least a few months of housing, move-in costs, bills, food, transportation, and health-related expenses.
