Help Ashley with much needed open heart surgery

Hi, my name is Desiree and I’m raising funds for my 35 year old son, Ashley. Ashley was born a prem baby; with a ptosis of the left eye, little vision in that eye, little hearing in his left ear and 3 holes in the heart. He’s my miracle baby. He was in an incubator for the first couple of months in this world ; his lungs needed further developing and he was fed through his nose. He pulled through and was on lasix medication for his heart till he was 12 years old when we were told the much awaited wonderful news that the holes in his heart had closed and he could stop the medication. He’s had corrective eye surgery a number of times as a child. Ashley has always been surrounded with love, but had a tough start. He graduated in IT and runs his own small business from home in Cape Town. Earlier this month we received devastating news; Ashley was rushed to hospital and was in icu. His one hole in the heart has reopened. His heart has 30% function. He has heart failure and is in need of surgery; open heart surgery. When he was admitted, he had water in the lungs and his oxygen levels were not good. He’s had pneumonia previously and a couple of bouts of Covid. Together with his heart condition, this is not great. However, he needs to get his heart strong enough for the surgery. He’s doing all he can on his side taking medications and resting. However this means time off work which impacts his income. His medical aid has also run out. He could only afford basic cover; in South Africa; that hardly covers anything! His surgery is expected to cost R500 000. The family will help as much as possible, but this is a huge amount. Not to mention the many months off work recovering. We are appealing for help, for him. Every little will help. There is no cost for his life and we will do absolutely everything we can! If you could please help him, this would mean the world. He’s young with his whole life ahead of him. He’s such a caring, loving and giving person. It’s now time for him to be loved, cared for and receive help!
