Hi friends and family,
My Name is Ashley Tinashe, and I am thrilled to share that I’ve officially qualified to represent Zimbabwe at the World Championships in Tokyo! This moment is the result of years of relentless training, sacrifice, and unwavering determination. To now have the chance to wear my country’s colors on one of the biggest international stages is nothing short of a dream come true.
But this journey has never been just about me. As a Zimbabwean woman in sport, I know that representation matters, and my mission has always been to inspire the next generation of female athletes—to show them what’s possible. Throughout my life, I’ve been blessed with both the ability and the support to reach this level, and now I want to pay it forward by building a platform that will last far beyond my athletic career.
As many of you know, track and field isn’t a sport backed by much financial support, especially in countries like Zimbabwe. For years, I’ve been a self-funded athlete—juggling full-time, part-time, and freelance jobs just to make ends meet while chasing my dreams. The cost of elite training, travel, and preparation continues to rise, and with recent changes in my employment, I’m now at a point where I can’t do it alone.
That’s why I’m humbly asking for your help.
Your support—no matter the amount—will go directly toward:
- Costs while competing at the 2025 World Championships
- Coaching, training, and competition expenses
- Long-term preparation for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles
And here's something close to my heart: 20% of all funds raised will go directly towards the planning and execution of a youth outreach initiative in Zimbabwe.
As part of giving back, I’m planning a visit home to engage with young athletes in Zimbabwe—whether through school visits, training sessions, motivational talks, or community events. My goal is to inspire, mentor, and encourage the next generation by sharing my journey, providing guidance, and showing them what’s possible through sport.
Creating this GoFundMe wasn’t easy—pride and fear of vulnerability held me back. But I believe in this mission, and I believe in the power of community. If you’ve ever supported me, encouraged me, or believed in me, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
This journey is about way more than medals—it’s about paving the way for those who come next.
With love and gratitude,
