Ashley Palutis Leiss Breast Cancer Journey
Ashley Palutis Leiss Inflammatory Breast Cancer Journey
Daughter. Sister. Wife. Mother. Cancer Survivor.
Ashley Palutis Leiss is a beloved wife to her adoring husband Erick and a devoted mother to 7-year-old twin girls Molly and Julia. Over the course of her career, Ashley has worked as a reporter at Fox43 News in York, Pennsylvania, freelanced in media relations, and most recently as a Development and Communications Associate for Home of the Sparrow, a non-profit providing housing and supportive services to homeless and low income women and mothers with children in Chester County.
In April 2021, Ashley started noticing swelling in her right arm. Then came the red mark on her breast. After these symptoms started to worsen, she went to her OBGYN. On Thursday, May 20, we received the devastating news – it was Inflammatory Breast Cancer. She is only 35 years old.
Inflammatory breast cancer is considered an aggressive cancer because it grows quickly and is more likely to have spread by the time it’s found. The 5 year survival rate for Inflammatory Breast Cancer is 40%, however huge advancements have been made over the past decade.
Many people with cancer and those who have survived cancer experience financial hardship, including problems paying bills, and depletion of savings. Because of this, we have set a goal of $50,000 to cover immediate medical costs, transportation, and lost wages.
We thank you in advance for your generosity. More importantly, we ask for your prayers for Ashley, Erick, Molly and Julia, and our entire family as we navigate through this difficult journey.
Ashley and Erick wish to let everyone know that any remaining funds will be donated to those diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer.
