Ashley's Cancer Fund

Ashley is just over halfway done with chemo treatments. Her last treatment is scheduled for February 24th. After that she will need to be planning for a few months off for surgeries and recovery. Again, donations are not required but are very much appreciated and Ashley and her family are living less than paycheck to paycheck right now. Thank you all so much for your support!

My name is Mona Shaw. I am launching this campaign on behalf of my close friend and daughter-in-law Ashley. The funds will offset some of the expenses impacting Ashley and her family. Ashley is the mother of 4 of my grandchildren, ages 8-14.

Ashley was recently diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. She requires several surgeries and weeks of chemotherapy and radiation.

Not only will Ashley and her family have the added expense of medical care, but their family will have a significant loss of income as Ashley faces this challenge due to her being the sole financial provider for their family of 6.

We hope that with your help, Ashley’s (and her family’s) energy can be focused on getting her body, mind, and spirit through this treatment without the added stress and distraction of a financial disaster.

Our initial goal is set at 20k, which will cover her immediate out-of-pocket medical costs and to compensate for lost wages on the days that Ashley cannot work. Ashley plans to continue working as a Certified Nursing Assistant as long as possible, but depending on the length of her course of treatment and how well she tolerates it, there could be a future need to raise that goal.

Ashley is the best mother I have ever known. She worships her children, and they worship her back. They need her.

I need her. Not only because she has been a steadfast support during my own health challenges in recent years, but because of the loving friendship we share. She is also very funny, a bungee jumper, and she rescues stray cats.

The world needs her. As a nursing assistant, she is devoted to her patients and gives her all to provide them with respect and compassionate care.

Her children, the rest of her family and I will be forever grateful for any help you can give.
