My best friend Ashley is getting a new heart!
Ashley has lived with a genetic heart condition called HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) her whole life. She’s been brave and strong during each challenge her heart disease has thrown at her. Since she was 22 her implanted defibrillator has shocked her multiple times to save her life. She had open heart surgery 8 years ago to cut down the wall of her heart that was too big and to try to give her more time. She adjusted her life to deal with the limitations of her disease.
That’s not working anymore and she has run out of options. Ashley is in end stage heart failure. Her heart won’t keep her alive any longer than a year. People who know Ashley well know that she is proud and private. So I created this GoFundMe because Ashley and her family could use some help. Being in end stage heart failure is a scary place to be, and getting a heart transplant to save her life is an amazing opportunity. But, the miracle of life comes at a price: time away from her family means added burdens on her husband and children, not being able to work, and health insurance not covering all costs.
Every little bit helps and we appreciate anything you can do.
