UPDATE #3 12/15 - With the amazing support of our entire community and a lot of little Elves running around the staff at Ashley was able to purchase 389 $50 Gift Cards for every student in the building!!
It was an amazing accomplishment and we are going to continue to try to fundraise to help build up the reserves for the school. They are almost at full capacity which 3 months ago was not even on the radar...they went from 177 to 389 kids in that time frame so PLEASE if you can donate to help them sustain assistance for these kids.
UPDATE #2 12/11 - We are beyond amazed at the community support. This is the last week so I would like to see if we can get just a tad more. The school is still receiving up to 5 families PER DAY so all of there resources are being stretched so thin they still need our help. Any amount will help achieve our goal!
UPDATE 12/6 - Thank you everyone who has donated so far!! I have updated our goal so we can help this school build up some reserves for the year to come. They do not have a PTA like all the other schools in Central Park so they need all the help they can get throughout the year so please lets keep this going for them!
Ashley Elementary School is located in Central Park and recently has had an influx of Venezuelan and Colombian refugee students. The school previously had a student population of 188 students and it is now up to 376 as the City and various nonprofit organizations have referred many of the families to Ashley due to its status as a multilingual school, with bilingual Spanish speaking teachers. Ashley was not prepared for this sudden increase and does not have the support staff for this large of a student population. With the holidays approaching they have asked our community for additional support to help the families at their school.
Central Park United Neighbors (CPUN), in partnership with the Foundation for Sustainable Urban Communities, is asking residents to help support the children and families with a donation.
All donated funds will be used to purchase a $50 King Soopers gift card for each family at Ashley Elementary. Remaining funds will be used throughout the year to help further support the students with food and basic needs.
