Hello, my name is Melissa and I'm fund raising on behalf of my best friend, Ashley Coleman.
Two weeks ago, Ashley had to be unexpectedly rushed to the hospital and admitted into emergency surgery to find the source of her massive blood loss, they told her she was 2-3 hours from full cardiac arrest. Doctors removed multiple tumors the size of softballs and had to give her 5 bags of blood for immediate transfusion. While the surgery and blood transfusions were a success, tests were taken to find the source of the issue.
Days later Ashley received a call from the surgeon with devastating news, she'd been diagnosed with Endometrial Cancer. Since that day Ashley and Isaac have both been through a whirlwind of grief, stress and fear while adjusting and processing the news. Unfortunately, at this point she's fighting the most aggressive grade of uterine cancer there is which does not leave much time for processing. The plans to fight are unfolding quickly and the first step is surgery at the end of this month followed possibly by chemo and radiation depending on the findings and results of the surgery.
Ashley & Isaac have a beautiful outpouring of love and support from their close friends and family but unfortunately love doesn't pay the bills. According to Ashley's health insurance they will not be able to cover any costs until her deductible of $9,500 is met and even then, not all needed medications will be fully covered. While we are also exploring other avenues such as grants and financial aid, we are heavily relying on the help and generosity of those that love Ashley & Isaac to offer some financial relief.
Ashley has been a giver her entire life, she's made an entire career out of serving others and doing anything possible to put a smile on the faces of not only the people she loves but complete strangers. She's never hesitated for a moment to help someone that needed it, to give them a shoulder to cry on, make them laugh, lend them money, share her food, offer a ride, the list goes on. Well, now it's our turn to return the favor.
Ashley's been a fighter her entire life and now it's time to show her that she doesn't have to fight alone. Anything you can do to help is appreciated beyond anything I'm capable of typing on this screen. Thank you for loving one of the best women I've ever known.
