Hi Everyone,
My name is Ashley Choi. I share the unfortunate news that on 10/28/2022 around 3 am my apartment building was set on fire.
It was such a traumatizing experience. In those waking moments I could not see or breathe through the black smoke. I panicked and inhaled more smoke trying to find the doorknob to escape. Thankfully, everyone including myself managed to evacuate the building safely.
Upon entering the building after the fire was put out, there was broken glass everywhere and a substantial amount of damage to my personal belongings. As a result I am currently residing in a hotel due to the unlivable conditions of my apartment. The cause of the fire is unknown and therefore the property is under investigation until further notice. It is unclear when I know I can move back in safely or find a new place altogether.
I don’t have renters insurance. I don’t have enough disposable income to fully afford this type of emergency. This was all completely unexpected, and for now it’s safe to say I will be residing in a hotel for at least another month until I have a permanent home again.
It feels embarrassing and shameful to share this news publically, anyone that knows me personally understands that I take a lot of pride in being an independent person. However these expenses are proving to be difficult to keep up with even with the two jobs I’ll be working. The amount shown is just for the expense to cover the hotel for one month and food since I have no access to a kitchen. I would be beyond gracious and appreciative to anyone who’s able to contribute even the smallest amount. I thank you for taking the time to read this and hearing me out during this difficult time. Should you have any questions please feel free to reach out!
