This is my best friend and sister in law Ashlee Lackovic. My best friend has many best friends because she is great person who knows how to make you feel great about yourself. Her heart broke when she had to post this:
"This isn’t an easy post to make and it’s certainly something I debated on putting on socials but, I think it’s important for everyone to know. About a week ago I was diagnosed with Breast cancer. It was very unexpected and not something I was prepared for. After many many tests, it was determined I have cancer in the milk ducts of my right breast , as of right now they believe is it non invasive but it’s was rated at aggressive and likely to come back in the future. The good news is that is 100 percent treatable and because of my age and that I caught it so early I am going to beat this. The odds are in my favour. I will be going for surgery in the next month to Kelowna to get a mastectomy ( most likely a double mastectomy) and having reconstructive surgery done. The recovery for this succcccks but it’s the first step in my treatment plan. After that they will do more bisopies and will confirm what stage of cancer it is at and if it really is non invasive. If it comes back as a upgraded diagnosis I will be heading back to Kelowna for more treatment ( chemo or radiation) However, if it remains at my current diagnosis I will be done treatment after surgery! THIS IS WHAT I AM HOPING WILL HAPPEN! So lots of positive vibes please!! I’m holding up okay, the fam is okay we are all a little tired, scared, shocked and sad but DETERMINED to come out of this! The next few months will be hard on a lot of levels but with all my family and friends by my side I know I’ll become stronger and even more badass. Breast cancer = pink and we all know I feel about pink... so clearly I’m gonna rock this. I don’t know how people can help right now but, what I do know is positivity, love and lots and lots of laughter make this all easier. Moral of the story: get your boobies checked even if your super low risk and young. And if you don’t have boobs well... make sure the ladies in your life get checked. You never know when you might just be saving your own life! Lots of love , Ash"
Our Best Friend has Breast Cancer at 36, and it caught her off guard because she is so focused on being there for her family and getting her kids the help they need, her volunteer work in her community, on her self published books on Knitting for mental health, and teaching class at Addiction Services.
Ashlee would never ask for anything from anyone. That's how badass she is, this time should her time, and she is worried about you. So I am gonna ask for your help for her. Reality is, where she lives and the closest treatment centre is over 700 kms, she shouldn't have to face it alone for weeks at a time. She needs her family, her loving husband who has been making her laugh for 10 years, her beautiful inspirational daughter and her handsome little inquisitive man who is chalked full of love and laughs,to be with her though her treatments. She needs them to reenergize her, to love her and to keep her positive and strong and BADASS Every donation helps this family stick together through this hard time and get her better.
