Asher's Avengers

Updated Post 08/13/19
We haven’t updated this page in awhile. Maybe we were hoping we wouldn’t need it anymore. Unfortunately things didn’t go the way everyone had hoped and Asher’s tumor did not respond to treatment. He was able to have surgery to remove the bulk of the tumor, which is something that was not initially an option due to it’s size and proximity to major nerves. But his margins weren’t clear and his tumor wasn’t “dead” when they removed it. What does this mean? Asher still has Rhabdomyosarcoma-8 excruciating months after his diagnosis. He will need to start another round of chemo in the next weeks, a stronger round of chemicals in his already battered little body. They have not formulated the exact plan but his parents know it will be between 32 and 52 weeks of Chemo once a week. If he does not respond quickly, they will increase the strength of the Chemo drugs, and he will go 5 times a week. No one is giving up, we are digging our heels in and ready to face this ugly thing called Cancer head on.

We will keep this Go Fund Me going until his treatment has completed. If you’ve already donated, please share this page so someone else that is able to donate can. Thank you all so much for everything. Asher and his family are more grateful than they will ever be able to put into words for the support they’ve gotten♥️

Original Post:
Our friend Monica Cochran has been a nurse for years.  She's taken care of so many patients on the worst day of their lives and working in that environment every day we become a sort of dysfunctional family.
On New Years Eve our family found itself facing the other side of that worst day.

Chad and Monica took their 8 year son Asher to the ER for swelling to his left eyelid that they believed was a stubborn case of allergies.  A Cat Scan revealed a mass in his left orbit.

After 4 long days of speculation and hoping for the best, the diagnosis of Rhabdomyosarcoma was given to his parents and 3 sisters.  This is a rare form of cancer that develops in muscle tissue.  There are several "types" of this cancer and while they are still waiting for final results, ALL types require intense treatment with a chemotherapy and radiation combination.

There are still tests pending to formulate a final treatment plan, but we know this road is going to be a long one for Asher and his family-OUR family...Asher is truly a great kid that loves Superheros and Picachu with an infectious smile!  The last week he has undergone several painful procedures and managed to keep that smile on his face through most of it.  His family has a strong faith and they have a ton of support from those they love.

However, travel and food expenses add up quickly so please  donate any amount of money you can to help this family through this very difficult time.  We will also be starting a sign up for home cooked meals to be delivered if you'd like to help with that as well!  Thank you all for reading this!  If you cannot donate, please share this.
