On Tuesday, May 10th, Ashanti was walking home from the store at night in northeast Austin, Texas. On her walk home she was hit and run over by a truck. She was taken to Dell Seton hospital and is currently in critical condition. Ashanti has had surgery to reduce pressure and swelling due to brain injury but has not regained consciousness since the accident. Ashanti's sister is currently taking care of Ashanti's son Shawn and working with doctors on Ashanti's critical medical needs.
In the Windsor Park community of Austin, we know Ashanti as the woman who goes door-to-door selling baked sweets for "Chrissy's Sweet Treats," the business she and her sister run. Ashanti's sister Christina does the baking, and Ashanti walks a weekly route selling her wagon-load of baked goods. She has given the community so much; it's time to help give back.
Ashanti needs help with mounting medical bills. She is getting great care at Dell Seton, but doctors indicate she has brain damage, the extent of which is unknown. Doctors don't know how long she will remain unconscious, nor how much care and therapy she will need once she does regain consciousness. So we want to start helping now.
Ashanti is fighting for her life. Please help if you can. Monies will be used to pay for medical bills, which will help relieve some of the burden on Ashanti and her family. Please keep Ashanti in your thoughts and prayers.
