My name is Ashante Nelson. I'm 23 years old ,currently living in Jamaica . I've been living with visual impairment since I was 8 years old. I have an extreme case of myopia, also known as nearsightedness.

Five days ago, on May 3rd, 2025, I woke up with a small watermark blur below my right eye. Later that same day, around 2-3 in the afternoon, I realized that the small watermark had now become a big blur, covering my right eye halfway. I sought help as soon as I could, which was on May 4th. I found out from my doctor that I'm going through retinal detachment and without emergency surgery, I may face permanent damage, which is blindness.
