Asha & Xavier House Fire Recovery
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Maggie and I'm setting up this fundraiser on behalf of our mutual friend Asha and her dear son Xavier. Today, April 3, in late afternoon, their house suddenly caught on fire, starting in the back. They were both at home, which is scary and also a bit lucky, as Xavier is the hero of the day who spotted the fire early on and alerted his mom! The firefighters and other emergency personnel were great, putting out the blaze as quickly as possible and rescuing the two cats, who are now recuperating at the vet. Neighbors and friends were also wonderful, providing clothing, babysitting, and cat care. And Asha was sure to rescue her college textbooks so that she can continue studying and graduate this spring!
The cause of the fire as well as the house's structural integrity remain to be determined.
Luckily, floors are intact and the home is safe to visit so that items can be retrieved. Still, housing is an immediate need while it is determined whether they can return to the house or need to find a new place to live, so this fundraiser will provide the funds they need to secure shelter, food, clothing, and basic supplies while the rest is sorted out. Thank you for stopping by and please do contribute if you have anything to spare! If you know Maritia, she says you can message her directly for updates or donation needs. Thanks again - Asha and Xavier are two wonderful people who deserve to bounce back from this event ASAP!
