As most of you will know, I’ve signed up for the Alpe d’Huez M Triathlon with some mates on 31st July. Given the many months of panicking I have done, no doubt it feels like you have also suffered through my training regime! But as a reminder, this a “medium” distance race featuring a 1.5km swim, a 28km bike ride straight into the sky, and a 6.4km run I’ll probably do in a daze. While that might not sound very long to the seasoned triathlete, I’m an amateur at all three sports, and frankly, the climb alone gives me heart palpitations… and I haven’t even started yet.
It would be great to think my sweat and suffering actually gave back in some way, and I have supported Choose Love for many years, An incredible organisation which delivers life-changing support to refugees and displaced people around the world, both at a policy level and on the ground, with everything from lifesaving search and rescue boats to food and legal advice. Highly recommend looking into some of their incredible campaigns.
If you fancy cheering me on (or laughing at my pain), please donate. Thanks in advance - I promise to repay you with photos of my (very) sweaty face once I (touch wood!) make the finish line...
