Dear friends, family and people whose lives Ash has touched,
Ash was an amazing young man, a hard worker, loyal friend and kind soul with a maturity well beyond his years. Ash was born in the city, however, he was a country boy at heart. Ash worked on The Williams Family Cattle Stations in South Australia, he was based at Mt Barry Station and had found his people and his happy place.
His dream was to run his own Station in the very heart of Australia.
Tragically while chasing this dream his life has been cruelly cut short.
As we try to come to terms with the sudden, unexpected and tragic passing of our beautiful nephew and cousin, we are also trying to find a way to help Deb, Richard and Averil through this horrendous time.
To this end we have established a Gofundme fundraiser for the family.
Our goal is to ease the unexpected financial burden placed on them and to help them to commemorate Ash’s life and to honour Ash’s legacy moving forward.
Specifically the funds would go towards:
- Costs for the repatriation of Ash’s body (to bring their boy home).
- Funeral costs and memorial tributes.
- Costs for the family to travel to The Williams Family Stations, SA to pay their respects to Ash’s adopted home and to retrieve his belongings.
- Costs for a tribute to Ash to be created and positioned on Mount Barry Station to ensure his memory always lives on there.
- Costs to settle Ash’s ongoing debts incurred establishing his life in the outback (pay off his cars, tools etc.).
- Support to the family as they attempt to navigate this time financially, emotionally and psychologically (especially to Averil, who is faced with having to suspend her University studies again due to tragedy, and to all as they are unable to commit to work in the near future)
And finally:
To Honour Ash’s legacy e.g.,
- Establish an Ash Jones Memorial Trail at Wangat Lodge (Ash’s special place growing up).
- Sponsor Rodeo events in his name.
- Sponsor young people who share Ash’s love of the country and dream of making a life there (funds permitting).
