Support Jarod's Recovery Journey

Hello,

My name is Jason Benrud and I wanted to share a severe accident that my brother, Jarod Benrud, had a few weeks ago on Jan 29, 2025. Jarod fell almost 20 feet after the railing of his deck collapsed. He was knocked unconscious, but when he woke up, he called out for help and a guardian angel came to his rescue. She called emergency services and Jarod was Airlifted to UW Hospital Trauma Center in Madison after losing significant amounts of blood and suffering several very serious injuries.

Some of the injuries Jarod suffered include: a compound fracture of the left femur, a torn quad tendon, a broken right ankle, 2 broken ribs, 4 vertebrae compression fractures (L1-L4), as well as several bruises and lacerations, which required multiple stitches.

After spending 8 days at UW Health Trauma Center in Madison, WI, Jarod was transferred to Encompass Rehab Facility in Fitchburg, WI, where he spent another 12 days. After 20 total days of extensive care, Jarod was discharged and will continue his rehab with at-home therapy as well as more surgeries in the future. Doctors expect his recovery to last more than 4-6 months, so he has a very long and painful journey ahead of him. Due to these life-altering circumstances, time will determine how severe and impactful this accident will be on his future.

Jarod will not able to continue to work as a school teacher for the rest of this school year, which is very devastating to him, as teaching is one of his top priorities in life. In addition, Jarod also has a great passion for officiating wrestling, however, at this time, he is unable to pursue this passion.
