Kidney Transplant Fundraiser
Donation protected
Hello Friends,
My name is DeShawn Joiner , I am 31 years of age. Let me tell you about my journey . I got diagnosed with kidney failure in 2010 when i was just 21 years of age . As of my most recent labs, my combined function between both kidneys is around 15%, which has now bumped me from stage 4 to stage 5 chronic kidney disease. Stage 5 is the last and final stage of progression, ultimately leading to complete kidney failure. I currently attend dialysis 3-4 times a week.
I am very fortunate to have loved ones around me &, After undergoing multiple days of testing and evaluations, a tentative game-plan has been laid out for the transplant to take place in December of 2020. It goes without saying that this entire process and the steps yet to come have not, and will not, come cheap. While insurance has covered most expenses thus far, there will be many expenses accrued right before the transplant takes place and after as well.
After the transplant takes place, I will be required to have plenty of rest . We are also taking into account the cost of medications, general living expenses (rent, car payments, bills, etc.) and have come to the realization that I'm going to need some help to make sure I am able to keep my road to recovery on track. I have set up this page to offer the option of donating to my recovery process. I am very grateful to loved ones and Advent Health for taking on my case and agreeing to treat me and help me have a second chance at a semi-normal life, but that comes at a very high price.
Any donation of any amount is greatly appreciated and means that a healthier and easier life is that much closer. I have been given a rough estimate of what my medical expenses will be post-transplant, but it is still unclear and hard to project exactly where I will fall. I have set an initial goal of $10,000 as a starting point. The projected estimate goes far beyond that number, so this is just the beginning.
To anyone to takes the time to donate or just read my story, I am so grateful for your time and generosity. Your donation means more than you know.
Thank you so much.
