Hi everyone, my name is McCall Tatar. I’m Michael’s eldest niece. I am coming on here which is one of the hardest things to do and ask, but with the extent of his injuries and his condition I wanted to start this to help our family prepare for the future.
Mike has been in a traumatic motorcycle accident on Memorial Day in Costa Rica, in which the Red Cross called my grandmother around 9:30 that evening. Since then, we have discovered he has a frontal lobe brain bleed, contusions on his brain, 3 fractures on his back, fractured hip, right side tibia/fibia break. Ventilator associated pneumonia which has now developed in acute respiratory distress. They are now doing a tracheotomy today. He has been in a medical induced coma since the arrival at hospital on a ICU floor. He is on ECMO currently. (This is what we know thus far)
Michael Dewayne Easter will come back to Texas at some point, and this will allow us to medevac him to San Antonio and continue care here if he’s able to state that is his wishes or he improves or if this takes a turn it will allow our family to get him home and have services to honor him. Estimated cost of medevac I’ve received is $46,000+, we’re unsure if his insurance will help. His medical bills will need to be paid prior to discharge is what we are being told however he handles this. We all know Mike has a wild side- but what we all can agree on his will do anything for the ones he loves. He is brilliant and hard working and loves his son, River with his whole being.
This is a time I’m asking as a village and a community to come together and even if that’s in prayer, we will forever be grateful. God is so good and we believe in miracles. Please continue praying for our family during this time. River deserves his dad to be around for years to come!
